Characters: Kate was a female character who didn’t need a knight-in-shining-armor. She was independent, smart, quirky and came chock-full of random facts. (She was like a human encyclopedia) However, after a while, she was afraid to admit when she needed someone to lean on. And that someone was, yes, you guessed it, Theo. Theo was a charming male character with a heart of freaking gold. Seriously, the way he cared for his mother made my heart swell. My complaint about Theo: he complained about Target. Target, you guys! That’s basically everyone’s favorite place on Earth — sorry, Disney World.

The side characters were a HOOT. I really enjoyed them, especially Kate’s mom. She was just so weird, and it made the scenes with her in them that much more enjoyable. The woman literally changed her birth name to Sparrow. I am a sucker for eccentric characters, and she certainly was one of those. Kate also had some awesome friends that every girl out there needs. They kind of reminded me of my friends, which is probably why I liked them so much. Not that I would ever tell my friends any of this…

Writing: Staci Hart’s writing is always what makes the books pop for me. She has great depth as a writer in the rom-com genre. She is #writinggoals. Her writing can be every bit funny as it can be heartwarming. I love when authors can pull you in all directions with their writing.

Plotline: As you can decipher from the plotline, this book focuses on pregnancy. I usually don’t pick up books like this, but since it was Staci Hart, obviously I just had to read it. We got to follow Kate’s pregnancy and how she dealt with Theo and her job. She really was a modern day woman! I also got slight Emma Swan vibes from her, too.

Overall thoughts: This was an easy read that you can read during a lunch break or right before bed. It’ll make you smile and laugh, which is always a good thing. Who wants to read a book where all you do is cry? (Me, I do sometimes…) Definitely worth giving a whirl. I cannot wait to see what Hart has planned next!

Chemistry is my love language.

I’ve always been able to separate feelings from chemosignals. A shot of dopamine, a
dash of serotonin, and a sprinkle of oxytocin—and bam. You’re in love.

And when egg meets sperm, you’re pregnant.

I couldn’t even be surprised as I stared down at the little blue plus sign, because I knew exactly when and how, and with whom it happened.

When: approximately five weeks ago.
Who: one night stand.
How: prophylactic malfunction.

The upside? I don’t have to go looking for a suitable mate.

Genetically, he’s the cream of the crop. His musculature is a study in symmetry and
strength, his height imposing and dominant. He is a man who thrives on control and
command, a man who survives on intelligence and resourcefulness. A perfect male specimen.

And the whole package is wrapped up in a flawlessly tailored suit.

I’m having this baby, and he insists we’re well-suited to have it together. And what’s worse? He wants more, in the way of love and marriage.

But love isn’t real. It’s just a product of chemistry.

And if he changes my mind about that, we’re both in trouble.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an
entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget
that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a
number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best
cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family
ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new
enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
