The latest installment on the Divergent series, Allegiant, opens across the nation on March 18th.  I had the privilege of seeing at the New York premiere on March 14th, and it was a thrill to share the experience with so many fellow fans!  The movie was so much fun to watch with all the excitement and amazing special effects that (to me) were hallmarks of first two movies.  And yes, there is romance.  There is also action, quick wit, social commentary and new characters who will the wait for the next installment seem even longer.  (Annnnnd, a super-duper, very appreciated, gratuitous shower scene with my favorite character that essentially guarantees a DVD purchase.  I leave you to decide who that is.)

As a dystopian fiction junkie, I was impressed with the interpretation of the world beyond the wall.  What would the country look like after the world is completely destroyed?   Apparently there would be toxic air and lots of oozing but our team handles it well, which is no surprise to any of us.  Sadly, the less-than-admirable human traits of untrustworthiness, prejudice and moral superiority survived the toxins and the ooze.   I won’t spoil it for you, I promised no spoilers, but if you’ve read the books you know what to expect.  I will say that I think fans of the books will be happy with this movie.  The final movie in the series, Ascendant, is currently scheduled to come out June 2017.
