‘Tis the season for some holiday romance! It’s never too early for holiday/Christmas themed books, so when I had the chance to read an ARC of Lauren Blakely’s “Merry Little Kissmass,” I jumped at the chance. I am even more excited for the upcoming season already. Bring on the Christmas music.

A big thank you to Lauren Blakely and her team for an advanced reader copy of the book! What a great early Christmas present.

Merry Little Kissmass

Haul out the holly and spice

Yes, you read that right. This book is chalk full of holiday spirit, but it also has a fair amount of spice in it. The spice was definitely spicing in this one. The chemistry between the two leads, Rowan and Isla, is HOT. Don’t read this at work or at a family event โ€” that’s all I am going to say about that…

If you’re into Hallmark movies like myself, you will enjoy this book. Think of any holiday trope, and you’re pretty much guaranteed it. “Merry Little Kissmass” transports you into a world of so much holiday spirit that you won’t have time to be grinchy while reading it. For those of you who love the sports romance in books, Rowan is a professional hockey player and single dad. Whereas Rowan is into the sports, Isla is into the Christmas and romance side of things, as she is a professional matchmaker. Rowan is a certified Christmas hater, and Isla is basically Mrs. Claus. That made their dynamic fun because she was teaching him how to embrace the most wonderful time of the year.

Mia, Rowan’s nine-year-old daughter, was also a good addition to the book. Sometimes, like in Hallmark movies, the child can be too cheesy, but I feel like Mia was written into the book with purpose. She wasn’t just there to be there, but she helped to balance Rowan’s rough and tough attitude at times. Their dynamic was sweet, as was her relationship with Isla.

I will say, there were WAY too many side characters in the book. It made it a little hard to keep up with who-was-who. I didn’t really get to know the characters too much, even Isla and Rowan. I feel like I didn’t know much about Isla, aside from her loving Christmas and romance.

What to Expect while reading “Merry Little Kissmass”

๐ŸŽ Fake dating trope between a professional hockey player and matchmaker

๐ŸŽ„ A cute little dog side character

๐ŸŽ All the Christmas spirit that you can handle

๐ŸŽ„ Single dad trope

“Merry Little Kissmass” is out now, so go on and give it an order! It’s perfect for the holiday season approaching. Everyone needs some holiday spirit every once in a while.
