The all-new bonus content gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the iconic animatronics and recreating the immersive world of the game. After accepting a security guard job from Steve (Matthew Lillard; Scream, Scooby-Doo), Mike (Josh Hutcherson; The Hunger GamesFranchise), discovers an abandoned restaurant may actually be haunted by murderous animatronics.

The producers of M3GAN and The Black Phone brin the terrifying horror game phenomenon to life as a blood-chilling film. Recently fired and desperate for work so that he can keep custody of his little sister, Mike (Josh Hutcherson; The Hunger Games Franchise) agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike soon discovers that nothing at Freddy’s is what it seems. Mike’s nights at Freddy’s will lead him into unexplainable encounters with the supernatural and drag him into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare.

From producers Jason Blum (The Invisible Man, Get Out, Split) and game creator Scott Cawthon, FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S is written by Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi (The Wind) and Seth Cuddeback (Kelp,Mateo) with Emma Tammi directing. Along with Josh Hutcherson, the film stars (Matthew Lillard; Scream, Scooby-Doo), Elizabeth Lail (“You”, “Once Upon a Time”), Kat Conner Sterling (A Week Away, “The Gifted”), Piper Rubio (“Unstable”) and Mary Stuart Masterson (Fried Green Tomatoes, Benny & Joon).

HNS Review: Five Nights at Freddy’s brings the long-standing game to life with style. The practical effects surrounding the animatronics are top notch. Viewers can feel their intimidating presence due to the realistic nature of their construction. While the story can be hit and miss, it’s a rewarding experience for the fans who have long desired a big screen adaption of their favorite killer animatronics.

About the Product: The case is very neat. It features a textured, 3D effect on the outline of each animatronic. The color hues add an eerie effect to the look of the case. I like how the eyes of each character shine in contrast to the darker colors of their bodies. Design is top notch! The film has many options to watch, as there is a 4K HD disc made specially for those who have the premium viewing format. There is also a Blu-Ray included for those with the traditional disc device. A streaming option is also available with the digital code provided inside the disc set. Viewers won’t miss Freddy Fazbear’s anywhere with these features.

About the Special Features:

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S: From Fame to Big Screen – What’s crazy about Five Nights at Freddy’s is the longstanding fanbase that regularly examines the lore surrounding the characters. There is so much to take into account to please fans while trying to being new people in. Director Emma Tammi describes how involved Scott Cawthon was during production and how challenging it was to craft a world so specific. But it was rewarding to please fans for them. Each actor involved were very invested in creating a story that would reward fans for their long-standing loyalty. So much was considered when creating each detail of the set. I really appreciate the time and effort each member of the cast and crew took to make sure the first adaption of FNAF was done to justice. Some of the die hard YouTubers that have covered FNAF content even got to some see the set.

Killer Animatronics – This was my favorite section of the special features. Seeing how Jim Henson’s team constructed the animatronics was fascinating. I am a practical effects advocate through and through, so seeing these large villains brought to life where the actors could interact with them was really something special. Each animatronic had a robot built for certain scenes while others were performed by stunt doubles excluding Foxy, who was only performed by a robot. The people inside the suits describe how their direction was important because they couldn’t see well while in costume.

FIVE NIGHTS in Three Dimensions – Director Emma Tammi describes her approach on taking such a beloved game to the big screen. Her and the team wanted to create a set where the actors felt like they were in a part of this world. This was all made into one set rather than jumping around to different ones. But crafting a story that features human characters and writing them to all fit in together was a new challenge. Each actor explains their take on the new characters and how they fit into this world. Since the game is so simple, creating a feature length film with new human characters must have been a challenging approach, especially with a fanbase with such high expectations. The filmmakers pieced together lots of easter eggs for fans of the game as well which was nice to see.
