Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the dedication that may beat all other dedications: “And to you know who you are: Turns out, spit does make a wonderful motivator.” Because, YES!
A Book Full of Fall Fun, Romance and Drama
Welcome to Wayward Hollow where we meet former actress, Nic and the hot vet down the street, Henry. The book is set in a small town during the fall, so you can expect to feel the cozy vibes throughout the book. Fall is my favorite season — reading a book set during the fall automatically makes it a must-read in my book. This book was no different because not only do you get the fall vibes, but you also get a really sweet romance story between Nic and Henry. For those who love the spice level, this one is on the lighter side, but it was really well done. Henry was just so darn sweet to Nic! We love a respectful MMC who will do anything for the FMC.
The drama is a bit ridiculous at times, but it was a different kind of drama. Plus, Nic’s sister and ex-fiancé deserved what came to them. However, I think the drama between them lasted too long, which made it a little more silly than intense and serious for me. Nic’s family did SUCK, though. They were horrible people.
An Unexpected Cast of Characters
While Nic is the main character of the story, the side characters really stole the spotlight. Nic’s character was sweet, and I enjoyed seeing the character growth she endure. She started off as a meek woman that became a brave and strong woman at the end. We love to see that in our FMCs. As I stated before, Henry, the MMC, was just a really good dude. No notes.
As for the side characters, they were a hoot! We had Nic’s best friend, Lauren, as well as her neighbor Kiernan. They balanced out Nic perfectly. The real stars of the book were Henry’s dog, Jensen Ackles (yes, like the actor from “Supernatural”) and Nic’s ghost cat, Chaos. It was fun how Frost included not just humans as the side characters but the animals as well. It was something different that you don’t see much in romance books.
