After the success of the first two film adaptions of the iconic “Sonic The Hedgehog” games comes this spin-off based on the Sega game following the powerhouse, fiery warrior Knuckles The Echidna, perfectly voiced by Idris Elba. Elba also serves as an executive producer on the series.
After the events of “Sonic The Hedgehog 2” when Tails, Sonic and Knuckles defeat the evil Dr Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and gain control of the Chaos Emerald to conquer the world, Knuckles finds himself struggling to adjust to life on Earth with is new family in Green Falls. With no big battles and enemies to take on the Echidna Warrior, he decides to go on a quest with Wade Wipple (Adam Pally) the deputy sheriff, to help him find his inner hero. Thus, getting far more then they bargained for in this fun, buddy comedy and action-packed 6 episode adventure.
The intro music as Knuckles theme, “The Warrior,” by Scandal featuring Patty Smyth, brings a nice combo of rock and pop that captures the late 80’s of adventure movies and the 90s vibes era that the original games came from and the retro animation perfectly. The 3rd Sonic film will be released at the end of the year with new characters that will expand Sonic’s universe.
Knuckles | “The Warrior” Opening Title Sequence | Paramount+
Wade Wipple is the deputy sheriff of Green Falls, Montana who is going through a midlife slump. He goes on a journey of self-discovery and road trip with Knuckles to help him discover his inner hero and learn the ways of the Echidna warriors leading them to Reno, Nevada.
Agent Willoughby is a very smart, ruthless and yet conniving GUN agent who’s gone rogue, as she has lost belief in the organization. She has decided to hunt Knuckles to sell him to the highest bidder through her own flawed morals. She is working with evil genius engineer, The Buyer, for herself and financial gain.
Agent Mason is a slightly unhinged agent who’s decided to also go rogue with Agent Willoughby to find and hold Knuckles hostage. Mason has a lack of a moral compass but seems to relish the insane challenge of going up against Knuckles and his abilities.
Wanda Wipple is Wade Wipple’s eccentric, no nonsense sister and constantly has a back and forth with him. Now being a FBI agent, she is never afraid to throw it in his face, but when he needs help, she will stand up for her brother and family.
Pistol Pete is a very self-absorbed, conceited and charismatic champion bowler who abandoned his family and kids, Wade and Wanda, to pursue his bowling career and will have to confront Wade in Reno, Nevada at the bowling championship.
The Buyer Is the evil and unhinged engineer who once worked for Dr Robotnik. He decided to also go rogue and build his own criminal empire and go solo. He hires Agent Willoughby and Agent Mason to find and hold Knuckles hostage so he can discover the secrets to Knuckles’ powers and harness it for himself.
