‘Power Play’ By Chelsea Curto Book Review

NFL + Accidental Marriage Trope = Chelseas Curto’s latest book, “Power Play.”

I’ve only read one book by Curto before, “Caught on Camera,” and I devoured it. Suffice to say, I was excited to receive the arc for “Power Play.” Instead of the world of football like the last book I read of hers, this book takes place in the world of hockey. Who doesn’t like a hockey player?!

This book centers around our recently divorced FMC, Piper, and our hockey playing MMC, Liam as they enter into a sort of friends-with-benefits turned accidental marriage turned real L-O-V-E. Although Liam isn’t my favorite character ever, he has his moments and treats Piper like a queen, which I can’t help but admire.

There is a lot of different emotions that span throughout the book that make it a fun and real ride to embark upon. Plus, Curto’s writing is just so dang witty! It’s probably what I like most about her books is the ability to make me laugh out loud.

My Favorite Things From “Power Play”

Overall, I’d give this book a solid 3.5 stars. If you’re into the hockey romance, which I know is the hot thing right now, then you’ll enjoy this book. It has heart; it has hockey; it has some amazing girl power and supportive gal pals; it has ALL THE SPICE.

PS: Piper’s ex-husband was literally the worst. THE WORST. She deserved so much better than him, and I feel like she got that with Liam.
