‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Review

Nobody Wants This” season 2 premiered a couple weeks ago, and I can’t help but feel totally underwhelmed by this season. I LOVED season 1 and was eagerly anticipating the new season, but it fell flat for me. However, I still enjoyed it. If I were to rate it, it would be a 3/5.

Let’s dig in! Beware of spoilers ahead…

What Worked

The acting on this show has always been great, and this season we had more guest stars included in the journey. One of my favorite episodes of the season featured Leighton Meester. It was so hilarious seeing Joanne and Morgan confront their former-friend-turned-mommy influencer. There were so many quippy lines!

While some of the characters seemed off this season, Sasha and Morgan were still their ridiculous, silly selves. Out of all the characters, their characters are some of my favorites. Esther, as well, but she was a little off this season — we’ll get into that later. Morgan’s storyline with marrying her former therapist was all kinds of weird, but it made sense for her character. Of course, Sasha continues to be the funny, dorky side character you can’t help but love. The way he was obsessed with the choreographed dance he learned was just so him.

Also, just a shoutout to both set of parents because they were so messy! It was so funny to see Morgan bond with Noah’s mom. At the heart of it, those two are very similar. Let’s not forget the dramatic scene with Noah’s mom as Taylor Swift’s “Ready for It” played to encompass her vengeance against Joanne.

Additionally, because I am a romance girlie at heart, I still liked the relationship between Noah and Joanne. Noah is the perfect blend of nerdy and sweet. Their relationship went through a lot of ups and downs this season, but I think it portrays that relationships aren’t always rainbows and butterflies.

…And How Nobody Wants This…

Esther!!! She was my absolute favorite character in season 1 because I loved her snark and sass. However, this season, while the sass was still there, she seemed like a complete different character. I didn’t love her decision to leave Sasha to explore her life as a single woman. To me, that is incredibly selfish, and it’s going to be hard to overlook that. I did find it funny that to signify the turn in her character, they had her get bangs.

While I like their relationship, the plot lines between Joanne and Noah seemed so repetitive. The back and forth of Joanne deciding to be Jewish was EXHAUSTING. I understand that it’s a very big decision, but she didn’t seem any closer to a decision up until the last minute. We also see another break up between them — only for them to get back together at the end. Literally.

Overall, something about this season just seemed off. What was up with the music, for example? It was too much! Nonetheless, I am optimistic for next season. I am hoping we see Joanne explore Noah’s religion more, and see her go through the process of becoming Jewish. I am sure it will make for some crazy, interesting times.
