With the holiday season comes new Netflix Christmas movies!
I am a sucker for all things Christmas β Hallmark Christmas movies are my jam, and I pretty much watch them throughout the year. So, I had to watch the new Netflix Christmas movies to see if they compare to the sweet, cheesy Hallmark movies.
“Meet Me Next Christmas”: A 9.5/10 Watch
This was probably my favorite of the four and by far the least cringe-worthy. It was a unique storyline β pretty much a scavenger hunt throughout NYC to get sold out tickets to the Christmas Pentatonix show to meet the man Christina Milian’s character met in the airport the Christmas Eve the year prior.
However, the FMC and MMC ended up falling for each other, which I’m glad because he was such a sweet guy! I also liked that Pentatonix played a role in the story. It made for some laughs. There was one slightly cringe scene, but I can look past it because the overall story was very sweet and fun.
“Our Little Secret”: An 8/10 Watch
I’m torn on this movie because it was oh-so cringy, but it was also a lot of fun to watch! This was an ex-lovers to lovers storyline, which is not my favorite trope, but it worked for this movie. The antics throughout the story were funny, like Lindsay Lohan’s character accidentally getting high for Christmas mass and the whole Secret Santa thing. Super awkward scenes that evoked laughter!
This movie wasn’t bad by any means, but some of the lines and scenes just gave me second hand embarrassment. Despite this, it was a very light movie that really kept me entertained! Plus, watching Lindsay Lohan in a movie is just so nostalgic.
“The Merry Gentleman”: A 7/10 Watch
This movie was…interesting, to say the least. I honestly don’t get the Chad Michael Murray hype, so maybe I would’ve enjoyed it more if I was a fan. The premise of the story was different than any Christmas movie I’ve ever seen; I will give them that. To save her parent’s business, the FMC enlists attractive men for a holiday strip show that ends up saving the business. There were some dances that I couldn’t take seriously and just made me giggle.
The pacing of the movie was odd β it was super fast-paced and really was giving insta love. Nonetheless, this was another movie that was just solely for entertainment purposes. It definitely didn’t teach me the meaning of Christmas or anything.
“Hot Frosty”: An 1/10 Watch
When I say I hated this movie…I hated this movie. I have watched some not-so great movies in my time, but this movie by far takes the cake. I couldn’t even believe that was Ted from “Schitts Creek.” Lacy Chabert seems to play a one-dimensional character in every movie she’s in, and it gets so tiresome.
I also just can’t get over the fact that this man was a SNOWMAN that she falls in love with. It was too weird of a concept for me, and it was really boring. It took me about three days to finish the movie, and it’s only about an hour and half long. If you were to skip any movie this holiday season, this would be the one to skip.
Go forth and get into the holiday spirit with Netflix’s Christmas movies this season! Invite some friends over, make some hot cocoa and have some laughs.
