Kiernan Shipka is set to star to the Netflix adaption of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the spinoff to runaway hit Riverdale.
The as yet untitled project will take the classic character of Sabrina from Archie comics and adapt the 2014 comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina which is a much darker take on the character than those familiar with the TV show might expect. The comic is written by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa who went on to develop CW’s The Riverdale.
An empowered young woman, half-human, half-witch, Sabrina is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High. Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world.
Shipka is probably best known for her role as Sally Draper on Mad Men and also as the voice of Jinora on The Legend of Korra. The project already has a 20 episode order on Netflix and will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger with Berlanti productions producing.
