JK Rowling has revealed what she told Alan Rickman on Professor Snape, the character he brought to life in the Harry Potter series of films.
Rickman who passed away last week once revealed that JK Rowling gave him what he described as a “tiny, little, left-of-field piece of information” which helped him play Severus Snape. Recently JK Rowling revealed what he said in a tweet:
“I told Alan what lies behind the word ‘always’ ”
‘Always’ is the word Snape used to describe his perpetual love of Lily Potter at the end of the series.
Rickman said the following when he spoke to HitFix in 2011.
“She gave me one tiny, little, left-of-field piece of information that helped me think that he was more complicated and that the story was not going to be as straight down the line as everybody thought. If you remember when I did the first film she’d only written three or four books, so nobody knew where it was really going except her and it was important for her that I know something, but she only gave me a tiny piece of information which helped me think it was a more ambiguous route.”
