It’s Tony Award’s Weekend! Here’s Your TO DO List

by on

I don’t know what you are doing this weekend, but I’m sitting on a train going to NYC to take in all the pre-Tony excitement I can in 2 days.  Regardless of where you find yourself, here are some of the ways you can get started in celebrating the Tony Awards and this year’s nominees.

she loves me  The She Loves Me cast recording is out today and you can order it here.  She Loves Me is up for several Tony’s including: Best Revival of a Musical; Best Direction of a Musical, Scott Ellis; Best Lead Actress in a Musical, Laura Benanti; Best Lead Actor in a Musical, Zachary Levi; Best Featured Actress in a play, Jane Krakowski; Best Scenic Design of a Musical, David Rockwell; Best Costume Design of a Musical, Jeff Mahshie, and Best Orchestrations, Larry Hochman.  On a personal note, I was lucky enough to see this when it was still in previews and was blown away then.  I can only imagine how much better it is now.  The set design, costuming, and the cast are all spectacularly beautiful and so worth watching.  Best of luck to this show!!

hamilton  60 Minutes showing “Director’s Cut” of Hamilton episode.  If you live under a rock and haven’t heard, Hamilton is up for a record 16 Tony Awards.  Yes: 16.  I won’t list them all because it’s basically just all of them.  Will there be a sweep or an upset?  Your bet is as good as mine, and I’m not betting.  But I will be watching 60 Minutes Sunday night!!  The show will run immediately prior to the Tony awards, 7-8 EST.

download (3)  Before watching 60 Minutes, might I suggest the live feed from the Tony’s red carpet? You will be able to watch it beginning at 5:30 EST on Playbill.com.   After the red carpet, stay tuned for The Tony Awards Live Stream Show which will take you behind the scenes of the awards show.  The beauty here is that you can watch this live stream on your computer WHILE watching Hamilton on 60 Minutes on the TV.  This is why multi-tasking was invented.

And finally, as part of your Tony Awards weekend prep, if you haven’t already watched this video, do it now.  I’ve watched it multiple times.  Multiples of multiples.  It makes me giddy.  It’s just so good and features past and future nominees (I believe in Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Tony award winners as well as this year’s host, James Corden.

Have a great weekend everyone!  I will be tweeting during the Tony’s and I hope to hear your thoughts of the show and the award winners!
