Deadline reports, Awesomeness Films Acquired the film rights to Lauren Oliver upcoming novel ‘Replica’.  Replica is the first of the two books, tells the story of Lyra, known by the number 24, a replica – human model – who was born, raised, and observed in a clandestine research facility called the Haven Institute. When Lyra escapes from Haven and meets Gemma, a stranger on a quest of her own, earth-shattering secrets are revealed.

Awesomeness Films has booked movie rights to Replica, the upcoming novel from the author of Before I Fall. Lauren Oliver’s young-adult book centers on Lyra, known by the number 24, a replica – human model – who was born, raised and observed in a clandestine research facility called the Haven Institute. When Lyra escapes from Haven and meets Gemma, a stranger on a quest of her own, earth-shattering secrets are revealed.

Replica, the first of a two-book series, will be published October 4 by HarperCollins. Awesomeness Films, the movie division of multichannel platform AwesomenessTV, is producing the big-screen adaptation of Before I Fall, which stars Zoey Deutch and is directed by Ry Russo-Young from Maria Maggenti’s Black List script, with revisions by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

“Awesomeness is a dynamic and deeply creative company,” Oliver said, “and I’m thrilled to have another one of my books with them, especially after our positive experience with Before I Fall. I hope it’s one of many.” Added Awesomeness Films president Matt Kaplan: “Lauren has the ability to create worlds that speak to the young adult audience on a personal and lasting level. We look forward to continuing to build on our exciting relationship with HarperCollins and Lauren.”

UTA and InkWell brokered the deal on behalf of Oliver, while Kaplan, Matthew Dysart and Max Siemers handled for Awesomeness Films. The company’s Shovel Buddies will screen at SXSW next month. Its other pics include the documentarySnervous Tyler Oakley and comedy Smosh: The Movie.
